Plaza Inn & Suites at Ashland Creek

I was worried about my drive from Orland, CA to Ashland, OR because you have to cross over Mount Shasta and Siskiyou Pass. The night before Shasta called for chains, which I had, but had never used, so had no idea how to put on. Not sure the YouTube video I watched was going to suffice. However, in the morning I checked the road conditions again and all was clear. So I left Orland as early as possible in case anything were to change. Make sure when you're winter driving to always check road conditions, especially if you're traveling over mountain passes. Shasta does close at times. You may need to put chains on or at least have them in your vehicle. Always drive safely no matter the conditions.

As for the hotel, I've stayed a few times because my niece lives in Ashland. It's pretty much my go-to when visiting, so obviously, I like it.

The Vibe

This hotel consists of two buildings, one specifically for pet owners. I've had the pleasure to stay in both sides. That's especially nice for those without pets so they don't have to hear barking dogs. The rooms on the pet side are a little close, so dogs pretty much hear everyone entering or exiting their room. There's some barking, but not any more than expected. My room was really cool. This hotel has a somewhat retro vibe, especially the carpets, sitting area, and bathroom wallpaper. Most of the rooms, if not all, have balconies, which is a bonus.

The lobby is beautifully decorated with cushy seating and a fireplace. I would be happy curling up on their couch with a good book in front of the fire. Right now it's decorated for the holidays, which is warm and welcoming.

Cleanliness

I've never had a problem with this place. It has the usual wear and tear. A few stains on the carpets. Walls, ceilings, bathroom, linens were all clean. There was an overlooked dirty washcloth in the shower this time. I wasn't disgusted or grossed out or anything, so not that big a deal.

Amenities

This place has a bunch. Rooms are equipped with Keurig, microwave, fridge with little freezer. There's a hair dryer in the bathroom, ironing board and iron in the closet. Again I wonder who irons anymore. My room was large with a sitting area with chair and couch. There was a desk for working. Full length mirror - If you know, you know. I guess I'll just stop talking about paper pad and pen because they are mostly non-existent in hotels anymore.

They have a variety of room styles. I don't think there is much option in the pet friendly building, but on they other side you have options of fireplace, jacuzzi tub, suites, and parlor. Some have a view of the creek.

They have a pillow menu. Need I say more?

There is a small parking lot and a larger garage. There are a couple charge points for electric vehicles in the garage.

The lobby has a little store in which you can get snacks, soda, water, and wine. Yes wine. This is Oregon after all. There is also a gym, vending machines, laundry, and business center. There's no pool but they do have an outdoor hot tub.

They offer breakfast. I checked it out. There was nothing warm like eggs or bacon. There was a waffle maker, grains (by this I mean bread, bagels...things to toast), cereal, yogurt, muffins, coffee of course.

Staff

They are always very nice. You ring the bell and they magically appear. Not much else to say about it.

Location

First of all, the hotel is in a great location. Right on a small creek. Walking distance to funky shops and restaurants. Close to stores if you need groceries. If you've never been to Ashland, it's one of the coolest towns ever with TONS to do. You like to ski? Golf? They have it. There are tons of wineries to visit. Again, lots of places to eat and shop. If you visit at the right time of year you can attend the Shakespeare festival. It's fun to just walk around because it's such a beautiful little town.

Flaws

None that I can think of honestly.

Verdict

I'm marking the tiniest of tiny off for the dirty washcloth in my shower. This place, this town, is pretty close to perfection. So I'm giving the Plaza Inn & Suites at Ashland Creek in Ashland, OR, 9.8 out of 10 hotel keys. See below for more photos of the hotel.
